Here we will be talking about these stages, characteristic behaviours of those at these different stages as well as the BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentrations) of the different stages  Stage 1: SOBRIETY  The BAC range is 0.01-0.05 At this stage, the person looks like they are ok. Impairment sometimes is absolutely absent  Stage 2: EUPHORIA  The BAC range is 0.03-0.12 This stage is when people feel tipsy. The person feels confiden

ALCOHOL POISONING: FACTORS THAT DETERMINE LEVELS AND ONSET OF ALCOHOL POISONING/INTOXICATION  Have you ever seen people that just have a whiff of an alcoholic beverage and immediately start feeling tipsy?🀣 While on the other hand, another individual has downed 4 bottles of Henny and yet feels and looks like they are just getting started?😱 So, the same number of drinks won't produce the same exact effect or level of BAC (Blood Alcohol Concentration) amongst different people.  Well, there are certain factors that dictates BAC, here they are: - Amount of alcohol consumed  - The rate of alcohol consumption  - Gender - Body weight  - Rate of individual metabolism  - Ethnicity - Drinking a blend of different alcoholic beverages  - Drinking on an empty or full tummy - Habitual/frequent drinkers or social drinkers - The ABV (Alcohol By Volume) or concentration of the alcoholic beverage  Now, we have an idea of the factors that influence BAC. However the most important thing t

Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC), ever heard of that?

ALCOHOL POISONING AND BLOOD ALCOHOL CONTENT (BAC) The level of alcohol in the blood is what really causes alcohol poisoning  The liver is the organ yhat majorly metabolizes or breaks down alcohol in the body. The brain, pancreas and stomach also help out a bit. The liver metabolizes at an average rate of a certain quantity per hour However when the liver us overwhelmed and can't keep up because of the volume and concentration of alcohol in the system, a case of too much alcohol in the blood arises which results in alcohol poisoning  So, signs ans symptoms are presented based on the volume of alcohol in the blood BAC of 0.31-0.45% is life threatening  BAC of 0.16-0.30% results in severe impairment  BAC of 0.06-0.15% results in increased impairment  BAC of 0.00-0.05% results in mild impairment With zero alcohol in the blood then everything is just right Watch that BAC! It's a no-brainer that alcohol poisoning comes from alcohol πŸ™„ Our concern really is alcohol fit for consumption as there are other types of alcohol used for manufacturing, disinfection and for cleaning  Different types of alcoholic beverages contain different quantities of alcohol. So this means that equal volumes of different types of alcohol don't neccesarily translate to equal alcohol concentrations. Some alcoholic beverages contain more alcohol than others and so more dangerous  Types of alcoholic beverages : Could be distilled or undistilled Distilled alcoholic beverages have a higher concentration of alcohol than the undistilled ones Cider:2-8.5% Beer:2-12% Wine:9-16% Rum:37.5-80% Whiskey:40-68% Gin:40-50% Brandy:35-60% Vodka:35-50% Tequila:40% ABV is Alcohol By Volume. It is the standard measurement of how much alcohol an alcoholic beverage contains. It is normally indicated on the bottles or cans or containers of alcoholic beverages. It is expressed in perc

If you drink alcoholic beverages or you hang with people who do, you need to stay super glued to all we would be putting out on alcohol poisoning/intoxication. Now even if you are a teetotaler or you hang with teetotalers, the info won't hurt you, so stay super glued too😊. Alcohol poisoning, alcohol intoxication, they are one and the same. We may use the terms interchangeably.  Alcohol poisoning refers to a condition in which someone has taken too much alcohol too quickly or over a short period of time. Alcohol poisoning also means that there is too much alcohol in the blood.  Note that the term "too much" could be subjective. So the quantity that Mr Chakademus takes and feels ok might just be too much for Mrs Shayo. As rate of alcohol metabolism in these 2 individuals might not be the same. So it's important to know one's alcohol tolerance level as well as the symptoms of alcohol poisoning.  Do you know that alcohol poisoning could be fat
