SOURCES OF INDIGESTION  Amongst the numerous causes of indigestion, one that seems to be the most usual suspect is "overeating". This rings true for most people. During times of celebration like the Christmas, Thanksgiving, Sallah and new year, we tend to overindulge and end up having to contend with indigestion episodes. INDIGESTION You have had stomach upset? Then yes  you have had ingestion. The medical practitioners will refer to it as dyspepsia.  It's a  common digestive ailment and it's often confused for heartburn. Well, heartburn is actually one of the symptoms of indigestion.  INDIGESTION is discomfort in the upper part of the stomach, apart from the heartburn, there are other symptoms that one experiences when it occurs. PREVENTING HEARTBURN  You'll agree that prevention is better than a cure.  Here are ways to prevent getting heartburn.  -If you are overweight, lose weight and strive to maintain a healthy weight -Don't wear tight clothing, especially those that are tight around the tummy -Quit smoking  -If side effects of certain meds you take trigger your heartburn, talk to your doctor or pharmacist to place you on a suitable alternative  -Avoid high-impact exercises like crunches, instead go for brisk walks, swim, ride a bike etc. -Avoid late night meals -Avoid large meals, instead eat smaller portions at intervals -Avoid foods and drinks that trigger your heartburn -Avoid laying down after a meal wait for about 3 hours  -Elevate the head of the bed by about 6-8" These tips would help prevent heartburn  #Heartburn #DigestiveHealth #DigestiveAilments #TheFABS  #TheFirstAidBoxShop  #BeFABulouS
