Why wear a facemask

Image
You know the corona virus don't have wings to fly around neither does it have legs to walk around to get people infected.  It needs a vehicle to move around. That vehicle is our respiratory droplets.  You know when we speak, laugh, cough, sneeze even breathe, we release these droplets into the atmosphere through our nose and mouth.  So imagine someone who is infected and has symptoms (symptomatic) or not (asymptomatic) releasing the virus into tbe atmosphere when (s)he speaks, laughs...... If they wear a facemask correctly, the facemask will trap the vehicle (which contains the virus) and people are spared. Or if they aren't wearing a facemask and you are, your facemask will give you a good level of protection.  So tell us, why don't you want to wear a facemask while out in public 🤷‍♀️ #Covid-19  #StopTheSpread #WearAFacemask #StaySafe #TheFABS  #TheFirstAidBoxShop  #BeFABulouS

Preventing cancers

Good news is this: about 50% of cancers are preventable.  Healthy lifestyle choices or/and modifications is the biggest way to prevent cancer. Quit smoking. Eat healthy, include veggies and fruits in your diet. Exercise. Vitamin D has great benefits. Maintain a healthy weight  Take vaccine shots to prevent certain cancers like cervical cancer, liver cancer  Early detection is key to the best outcomes  Screening tests are available for breast, cervical, colorectal and lung cancers, so go for regular screening as they could help detect cancers in their early stages  Bottom line 👉 adopt a healthy lifestyle, the benefuts are of inestimable value  #Cancer #PreventingCancers #SilentDisease #SilentKiller #TheFABS  #TheFirstAidBoxShop  #BeFabulous

thoughts on preventing Covid-19

Image
It is a no-brainer that Preventing Covid-19 infection is better than a cure. We don't even want to get into the cost of treating Covid-19! It not only puts a massive hole in the pocket, there is also the risk of losing life. Preventing Covid-19 is achieved by (i) stay at home and entertain no visitors-this is a 100% effective. Unfortunately almost impossible. So we recommend we stay indoors as much as possible  (ii) observe all Covid-19 protocols if you must step out. This involves the use of facemask, social distance, wash your hands as often as possible, use hand sanitizer, avoid crowded spaces, avoid touching door handles and stair rails in public spaces.  (iii) boost your immunity . Eat fruits and veggies. Take vitamin C daily. Rest. Exercise. Ginger. Tumeric. Quit smoking. Reduce alcohol consumption. Stay hydrated. Eat a balanced diet. Try as much as possible to reduce stress. Don't be a Covid-19 victim before you you take It seriously.  #COVID19 #Prevent...

The only way to spot high blood pressure

Image
Like we previously mentioned, hypertension is a silent disease so it could be causing so much havoc to your health and you will be clueless.  The only way to detect it is to measure your blood pressure with a blood pressure monitor (BP monitor). This can be done in a health facility (hospital or pharmacy) or in the comfort of your home. The digital BP monitors are easy to use at home. Blood pressure readings have 2 sets of numbers. The upper numbers, which represents your systolic pressure while the lower numbers, which represents your diastolic pressure.  Systolic pressure is the pressure that occurs when blood is pumped from the heart to the arteries. The normal systolic pressure is 120mmHg or less (90-120) Diastolic pressure is the pressure in the arteries between heartbeats, when the heart is at rest. Normal diastolic pressure is 80mmHg or less (60-80) Blood pressure readings of 140/90mmHg or higher is considered as high blood pressure.  #KnowYourNumbers #...

How would you know ???

The thing with Silent Diseases is that they don't present with obvious signs and symptoms. Telltale signs are not just there at their inception nor at their early stages😔 Their presence become obvious or subtly obvious when they are at an advanced stages.😡 However there are things to consider that would help nip them at an early stage👇 -Know your family health history...has someone in your lineage suffered any  silent disease? -Go for routine comprehensive health checks....this would help in detecting or diagnosing silent diseases early.  -Certain vaccines are available to prevent a couple of silent diseases. #SilentDiseases #SilentKillers #TheFABS  #TheFirstAidBoxShop  #BeFABulouS
