FIRST AID & TREATMENT FOR FOREIGN OBJECTS IN THE BODY  Every time a foreign object is in the body,  the plan is to safely remove the foreign object without causing further harm.  The ease or difficulty in removing the foreign object will determine whether or not if professional medical help is needed.  The location of the foreign object is a great determinant of the ease or difficulty of removal.  If the foreign object is very visible and easy to pull out, it should be done carefully. If the object is a tricky bit to remove,  it is important to seek medical help than to push the object further.  Sometimes a foreign object in the body can be gotten rid of by stooling. If the object is in the nose or ear, a suction machine is used to remove the object in a hospital.  If the object is stuck in the airways, an bronchoscope is used in a hospital.  If the foreign object is in the rectum, vagina or stomach  an endoscope is used ...

SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF FOREIGN OBJECTS IN THE BODY  Sometimes the presence of a foreign object in the body is obvious, at other times, it might not be so obvious.  Imagine a child swallowing a pebble or inserting a pebble in the nostril. At times the pebble might be seen at other times might disappear into the body without the knowledge of an adult. A knife stab with the knife still stuck in the victim is definitely obvious.  So, it depends on the location that the foreign object is and size of the foreign object.  Here are general signs and symptoms to expect when a foreign object is in the body. - Pain (might be mild to severe) - Discomfort  - Might be seen (if not fully embedded or swallowed) - Choking  - Coughing  - Nasal drainage (when object is in the nose) - Breathing problems (when object is in the airway) - Infection (when object has been there for a while) - Wheezing  - Blurred vision  - Redness and watering of the eyes...

FOREIGN OBJECTS IN THE BODY  It is a major issue when an object gets into the body and disappears😱🙆‍♀️🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️😱 Some objects get stuck and can be seen, others get into the body and disappear entirely with no part sticking out.🙆‍♀️😱🤷‍♀️ At times objects are accidentally left in tbe body after a surgical procedure, other times at play or being too adventurous, some other time it is intentionally done. PICA!!! (PICA AND FOREIGN OBJECTS) Ever heard of it??? It's possible you might have had it at one point or the other. Pica is more common in kids and pregnant women. I had it temporarily as a kid. I ate chalk😱😭🥺🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ Have you ever chewed on ice? Were you ever pregnant and you craved and ate what is called native chalk? Then you have had experienced pica  What is PICA? - It's an eating disorder  - It's a disease that makes someone eat stuff that are inedible or have no nutritional value. Items eaten by people who suffer from pica include: - Ice - Hair  - Chalk  - Sand  - Powder - Paint - Soap - Clay - Faeces  - Dirt - Glue - Cigarette ashes & unused remainder of cigarettes  - Metal - Paper  - Charcoal  - String - Cloth - Pebbles This list of cause isn't exhaustive.  Sometimes the items eaten are harmless at other times they can be harmful. FOREIGN OBJECTS THAT HAVE BEEN FOUND IN THE BODY  The incidences of foreign objects in the body have occurred at home, at school, on playgrounds and just about any and everywhere. And oh yes at the ER (inability to dislodge foreign objects lands victims in the ER) Here are foreign objects that have been found in people: Seeds    Big chunks/pieces of food Insects Button batteries  Toys (small toys or toy parts) Sexual toys (vibrators and dildos) Pencils biros, crayons  Sand Pins and needles  Candles  Pebbles  Nais and screws  Tampons Knives Buttons  Bottles  Weapons Fruits and vegetables  Illegal drugs (drug trafficking) This list isn't an exhaustive list though.  #ForeignObjectsInTheBody #TheFABS  #BeFABulouS

MYTHS ABOUT SWALLOWING FRUIT SEEDS See these orange seeds right here? Growing up as a child, i had my fair share of swallowing them. My siblings too must have had their's too. If you were a child that grew up in Nigeria,  i am sure my experience would be something you can relate with. So while sucking on an orange i would mistakenly swallow a seed or more, and i don't know why i had to always report the incidents, i had the best uncles- uncle Ralph, uncle Tony and uncle Israel, i would inform them and they would tell me the story of a child that swallowed orange seeds and eventually the orange seeds sprouted and grew out of the head of this poor child, and then the tree eventually started bearing fruits. 😱 That people would come and pluck oranges from off the tree on the child's head😭😭😭 My uncles had the straightest faces when telling this story🥺🤔😐 This story didn't stop me from accidentally swallowing orange seeds and i will still carry m...

THE 411 ON FOREIGN OBJECTS IN THE BODY  This actually is a no-brainer😉 Basically a foreign object in the body can be described as: -  Anything that is stuck inside your body that originally shouldn't be there or isn't meant to be there. Foreign objects can be inhaled  Foreign objects can be swallowed  Foreign objects can be stuck in/on a body part Foreign objects can be stuck inside the body  The above can occur accidentally or intentionally.  They can also occur as a result of an injury or accident.  Irrespective of how a foreign object gets into the body, it can occur in kids as well as adults. #ForeignObjectsInTheBody #TheFABS  #BeFABulouS

Welcome to the month of November 💃🤗🥰😁👍👏😘 We pray God keeps us all safe from harm's way and blesses beyond our wildest expectations.  In this month, we would be putting out info on foreign objects in the body!
