Undigested foods in the GIT? Here's what happens

Image
FALLOUTS OF HAVING FOOD STAY IN THE GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT (GIT) LONGER THAN NORMAL  So as long as you eat, you must do number two (poo). Your frequency of eating should be directly proportional to how often you do number two. So it means we MUST do number two daily, as long as we eat daily. If you don't have frequent bowel movements then you are prone to having GIT issues. When food gets into the GIT, enzymes help to break it down so it can digested. Undigested foods are a PROBLEM!😭 Here's what happens to foods that stay longer than neccessary in the GIT: - they get ROTTEN in the GIT🤮 - they get FERMENTED in the GIT🤮 - they get RANCID in the GIT🤮 - they get PUTREFIED in the GIT 🤮 All the above mentioned terms can be used interchangeably, but we are trying to paint a picture in your minds so you can connect with what we talking about. Bottom line is undigested foods have no business chilling in your GIT, you can replace  "chilling" with any of those t

What is your GIT for?

YOUR TUMMY IS NOT A STORAGE CONTAINER!!! I think some of us need the reminder that our GIT (Gastrointestinal Tract) is not a storage facility! No waysss. It's not a fridge!🤦‍♀️ Some of us think our tummies are for storage purposes. 🙄 You see, our digestive system consists of the digestive tract or GIT and some organs. The organs include- the mouth, oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, liver, pancreas, gall bladder and the anus. The GIT is in constant motion once we got food in it. This motion is involuntarily and its called  peristalsis. It helps our food move from point A to B alond the GIT before the wastes is eventually excreted. During the trip(of food) along the GIT, some of it is absorbed for use by the body and the waste is passed out. Having food content in the GIT longer than is neccessary has some bad implications. Some of us have been victims🤔🥺. Not an interesting place to be 🚶‍♀️ #DigestiveHealth #DigestiveAilments #Digestion #Foods #G

Digestion 101

Image
DIGESTION 101 The foods we eat in their original presentation cannot be made use of by the body. They are basically complex in nature.  Foods have to be broken down into simpler forms before the body can absorb them and then become beneficial to us.  This breakdown happens with the aid of enzymes found in the GIT (Gastrointestinal Tract). So DIGESTION is how the body converts food into nutrients that the body can use for : -Energy -Growth -Cell repairs  Some foods are more easily digested than others, some take longer than others. The digestion process should not take forever! It should happen within a time frame. #Digestion #DigestiveHealth #DigestiveAilments #Foods #DigestingFoods #GastrointestinalHealth #GastrointestinalAilments #TheFABS  #TheFirstAidBoxShop #BeFABulouS

My Water Chugging Journey

Image
My water chugging journey 😁😁😁 Some time in late August i decided to start drinking water MORE water.  This decision was divinely inspired 😁😁😁 See these pictures? They rep my hair loss at different times. I have suffered consistent hair loss, i kinda got used to it. Every time i combed my hair, either after taking out braids or whatever i just lose a lot of hair.i steam as advised by the salon people. I even visited a hair clinic and they made their diagnosis-dry scalp, i tried to stick with their thearapy but got disinterested when i couldn't keep up with the tedious routine🤦‍♀️. I regularly buy all sorts of hair creams with claims to stop hair breakage and hair loss but nothing good came out of them🥺. I decided to go natural around late 2015 or early 2016 cause i thought it would help. Sadly i didn't see any benefit. My hair seems to grow fast cause one would expect i should wake up bald one day🤔 On the 13th of August i decided to save the hair

Sources of Digestive Ailments

Image
CAUSES/SOURCES OF DIGESTIVE TRACT/GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT (GIT) AILMENTS  This is kind of a no-brainer 🙂  We often hear people say "you are what you eat". This is so true.🤔🙂 Most of the time, the sources of GIT related problems are as a result of what we consume-our diet. Some other time, it is as a result of the way our GIT functions or is structured.  So, the sources of GIT issues are quite diverse.  Aside the sources listed out in the attached poster, here are some sources of GIT ailments.  - Eating a lot of dairy products  - Stress - Traveling to new places and trying out new cuisine  - A change in our routine - When we have nutritional deficits - Pregnancy  - Use of certain meds e.g. narcotic analgesics, antidepressants, iron containing meds - Use of antacids containing calcium or aluminum. - Low supply of certain enzymes and bile (these help with digestion of foods eaten) Now we know some causes of digestive ailments, we now have an idea on what to avoid a

GIT 101

What is the digestive tract/Gastrointestinaltract ailments?🤔 Let's lay some foundation, but we won't get all scientific about this, but it's basic biology😁 The Digestive tract also referred to as the Gastrointestinal tract (GIT) is the pathway from the mouth to anus. So the route food tmoves along till it is excreted as waste via the anus is the GIT. The GIT includes the mouth, throat, oesophagus, stomach,  small intestine, large intestine, rectum and anus. So any problem that happens along this pathway is referred to as DIGESTIVE/GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT  AILMENT.  These ailments could be as a result of a structural problem of the GIT or could be a functional problem. The GIT ailments include: Diarrhoea, Indigestion, Heartburn, Bloating/Flatulence, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Food intolerance, Constipation, Nausea & Vomiting, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), Peptic ulcers etc. We might have suffered from one or more of these conditions at some poi

FOREIGN OBJECTS IN THE BODY

Today we wrap up on our series of foreign objects in the body. We gave info on: Foreign objects in the nose  Foreign objects in the ear Foreign objects in the rectum  Foreign objects in the eye We gave info on their sources, signs &symptoms, first aid &treatment, when to see a doctor and preventive measures.  We would have to put out info on  Foreign objects in the skin/flesh Foreign objects in the vagina  some other time We also talked about Pica, an eating disorder that involves people getting the urge to eat items with no nutritional benefit or non-food items. Whatever the foreign object is that gets into the body, either accidentally or intentionally, it is important that they are safely removed from the body without causing further harm to the casualty.  Sometimes these foreign objects can be easily and carefully removed by non medical personnel at other times, the aid of a medical professional and soecial tools and procedures is the only way out. I coincidentally stumbled
