FOREIGN OBJECTS IN THE BODY

Today we wrap up on our series of foreign objects in the body.

We gave info on:
Foreign objects in the nose
Foreign objects in the ear
Foreign objects in the rectum
Foreign objects in the eye

We gave info on their sources, signs &symptoms, first aid &treatment, when to see a doctor and preventive measures.

We would have to put out info on
Foreign objects in the skin/flesh
Foreign objects in the vagina
some other time

We also talked about Pica, an eating disorder that involves people getting the urge to eat items with no nutritional benefit or non-food items.

Whatever the foreign object is that gets into the body, either accidentally or intentionally, it is important that they are safely removed from the body without causing further harm to the casualty.

Sometimes these foreign objects can be easily and carefully removed by non medical personnel at other times, the aid of a medical professional and soecial tools and procedures is the only way out.

I coincidentally stumbled on the video attached. Though the audio is in igbo, a Nigerian language, the video is self explanatory. The person had a cucumber inserted into the body and the only way to get rid of it was surgery. It could have been a case of abuse or self inflicted. Whatever the case, foreign objects are alien to the body and have the potential to cause havoc.

We hope you got value from our posts this month.
Stay safe and FABulouS always
