GIT 101

What is the digestive tract/Gastrointestinaltract ailments?🤔

Let's lay some foundation, but we won't get all scientific about this, but it's basic biology😁

The Digestive tract also referred to as the Gastrointestinal tract (GIT) is the pathway from the mouth to anus. So the route food tmoves along till it is excreted as waste via the anus is the GIT.

The GIT includes the mouth, throat,oesophagus, stomach,  small intestine, large intestine, rectum and anus.

So any problem that happens along this pathway is referred to as DIGESTIVE/GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT  AILMENT. 

These ailments could be as a result of a structural problem of the GIT or could be a functional problem.

The GIT ailments include: Diarrhoea, Indigestion, Heartburn, Bloating/Flatulence, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), Food intolerance, Constipation, Nausea & Vomiting, Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), Peptic ulcers etc.

We might have suffered from one or more of these conditions at some point.

We would take thrash them one at a time, giving out first aid interventions and other useful info👩‍🏫
