CAUSES/SOURCES OF FOREIGN OBJECTS IN THE EYE  Almost a 100% of the time foreign objects get into the eye by accident, either at work or while carrying out regular activities. Most people have experienced dust or sand getting into the eye, maybe on a windy day or while in motion, in an automobile, riding a bike or motorcycle etc. People who engage in certain types of jobs are at risk as well. Jobs that include the use of wood sawing tools/machines, drilling machines, the use of hammer, axes etc. pose the risk of foreign objects entering the eye. #ForeignObjectsInTheEye #TheFABS  #BeFABulouS

Intro: foreign objects in the eye

Image
INTRO: FOREIGN OBJECT IN THE EYE A foreign object in the eye is any object that gets into the eye from outside of the body, they are alien to the body. Foreign objects that have been found in the eye include dust particles, debris, eyelash, grit, shards of metal and glass etc. The eyes have a self cleansing mechanism, this is done by the rinsing or flushing action of tears produced in the eyes. The problem with foreign objects in the eye is that they have the potential to damage the cornea and conjunctiva of the eye, and these are very delicate structures of the eye. Foreign objects in the eye normally stay on the eyeball and can scratch the cornea, however in rare occasions they can penetrate the eyes and cause grave damage (these are referred to as intraocular objects) Foreign objects in the eye cause discomfort and sometimes pain. The plan is to safely remove them without causing damage. #ForeignObjectsInTheEye #TheFABS  #BeFABulouS

First aid/treatment for foreign object in the rectum

Image
FIRST AID/TREATMENT FOR FOREIGN OBJECT IN THE RECTUM  When it comes to objects stuck in the rectum the first aid care really is to prevent further harm! Do nothing! Do not attempt to dislodge the foreign object yourself. The thing to do is to take the person to the ER (Emergency Room) of the hospital.  If you know or suspect that there is a foreign object stuck in the rectum, and you try to dislodge it yourself, you most likely will cause more harm, you can inflict more injury like internal and external tears or bruising, swelling can also occur.  The ER has professional team and equipment to locate and dislodge the foreign object. These are carried out by X-ray imaging, to locate the image. To dislodge the object, a retractor is used or surgery is carried out. Remember:Never attempt to dislodge a foreign object in the rectum, go to the ER asap #ForeignObjectsInTheRectum #TheFABS  #BeFABulouS
