World Stroke Day 2021
Today is World Stroke Day!
It is a day dedicated to raising global awareness on stroke...its causes, prevention, signs and management, so that we can take proactive actions, live more healthy and eventually less occurrence of stroke
Stroke is also referred to as a brain attack. It occurs when an area of the brain is deprived of blood (and so oxygen and nutrients can't get yo brain cells) and the cells begin to die and then loss of certain functions occurs and even death
The theme for this year is "Precious Time". It is important that the signs if stroke are detected ASAP so that death and disabilities can be prevented. Every second counts and the longer it takes to detect and get appropriate help results in bad outcomes

Here are some telltale SIGNS that someone is experiencing a stroke
F.A.S.T
F-face droop (does one side of the face droop, especially noticed around the mouth)
A-arm weakness (one arm is weak or numb, there is inability to lift 1 of the 2 hands)
S-speech difficulty (inability to make a simple sentence, speech is slurred)
T-time to get help immediately (call EMS or take them to a hospital ASAP)
ALTERNATIVELY S.T.R.S
S-smile (difficulty in smiling)
T-talk (difficulty in talking)
R-raise hands (difficulty in raising both hands)
S-stick (difficulty in sticking out hand)
