World Pneumonia Day

World Pneumonia Day is observed annually on the 12th of November.

Its all about raising awareness of the disease

Pneumonia is an infection that affects the lungs and could be caused by bacteria, virus or even fungi!

This year the theme is "Stop Pneumonia/Every Breath Counts"

Here are some ways to stop pneumonia

Get the flu vaccine each year -The flu makes one vulnerable to getting pneumonia
Get the pneumococcal vaccine-This isn't for all types of pneumonia though but helps prevent pneumonia caused by pneumococcal bacteria

Practice good hygiene-Wash your hands frequently before and after eating, after using the loo and when you get back home

Don’t smoke-Smoking makes your lungs susceptible

Practice a healthy lifestyle-Eat healthy, exercise and rest

Avoid sick people-Especially people who have pneumonia
