First aid care for cat and dog bites

FIRST AID CARE FOR CAT AND DOG BITES

First aid care will definitely reduce the risk of infection after a cat or dog bite.

In administering first aid care for a cat/dog bite, your first aid kit/box will definitely come in handy.

Before commencing first aid care, wash your hands or use a hand sanitizer. Then wear gloves, these actions protect you and the victim of the bite.

For a minor bite/wound, first aid care is most likely sufficient, the bleeding isn't significant,  but for a deep bite/wound, the bleeding is more, in this case, the first thing to do is to control and stop the bleed.

Washing the wound gently and thoroughly flushes out the bacteria and reduces the risk of an infection. Then rinse wound under running water for 5-10 minutes.

After first aid, be sure to wash your hands.

Be sure to watch out  for the start of an infection during the healing process. You do not want to take chances  that may lead to complications.
