How the heart beats

Electrical system

Electricity

Electric signals

Before each heartbeat, the heart first fills up with blood and then it contracts to push out the blood to the blood vessels so that the body can get blood supply (remember the blood carries oxygen and nourishment to celks, tissues and organs). For the heart to contact, it does so by the electrical signals
These are not terms that comes to us when we think about the heart and what makes it beat.

So yessssss, our hearts have an electrical system, this system controls the rate and rhythm of our heartbeat. The normal heart beat is between 60-100 beats per minute. If the heart beats at a rate that is too high or low, then it's an indication that there is a problem with the electrical system and an unresolved electrical system can lead to Sundden Cardiac Arrest (SCA)

When the heartbeat is irregular, it is an indication that there is a problem with the heart rhythm and it is called 👉Arrhythmia

If the heart rhythm is too fast (more than 100 beats per minute) it is 👉 Tachycardia

If the heart rhythm is too slow (less yhan 60 beats per minute) it is Bradycardia

There are some electrical problems in the heart or Arrhythmia that can cause certain portions of the heart not to beat or contract adequately.

Some Arrhythmia resolve quickly with no ill consequences others could be an indication that there is a problem looming ahead

If you experience an irregular heartbeat (especially often), go see your doctor and have it checked to avoid bad situations in the future
