Stool can be temporarily found there. It isn't meant to house foreign objects. Most foreign objects found in the rectum were inserted through the anus and very few got there through the mouth (made their way through the digestive tract and got stuck in the rectum. The problem with foreign objects is the inability to remove them. If foreign objects are not removed ASAP, they could cause complications. Foreign objects stuck in the rectum can only be located or viewed through X-ray imaging (except it is long enough to stick out via the anus). Foreign objects get stuck in the rectum for a variety of reasons.
