Arresting a bleed

An average of 5L actually 

Excessive blood (internal or external bleeding) loss can lead to death.
It is crucially important to arrest a bleed, whether it's a minor or major.

To stop an external bleed, apply firm pressure on the source of bleeding with a clean cloth (preferably lint-free).

If you are helping stop a bleed on someone other than yourself,  then ensure you wear gloves, as it protects you and the person you are helping.
