Today is World Asthma Day and its all about raising awareness on asthma 

𝑯𝒆𝒓𝒆 𝒂𝒓𝒆 π’”π’π’Žπ’† 𝒇𝒂𝒄𝒕𝒔

πŸ“it is a non communicable disease (not transmissible from person to person)
πŸ“it is a chronic disease (lasts for a long time) that affects lungs
πŸ“not curable but can be managed to reduce and prevent asthma attacks 
πŸ“can be life threatening 
πŸ“can be triggered by smoke, allergens, intense workouts, pollutants...

π‘Ίπ’šπ’Žπ’‘π’•π’π’Žπ’”
🟒breathlessness 
🟒wheezing 
🟒coughing 
🟒feeling tightness in the chest/pressure in the chest/pain in the chest
🟒difficulty in making a full sentence 

The idea behind managing asthma is to control symptoms. 

π‘¨π’”π’•π’‰π’Žπ’‚π’•π’Šπ’„?
πŸ₯know your triggers and avoid them
πŸ₯recognize symptoms early before they worsen
πŸ₯take your meds as prescribed 
πŸ₯carry your inhaler always 

There are sad stories of people who have died as a result of an asthma attack

π‘­π’Šπ’“π’”π’• π’‚π’Šπ’… 𝒇𝒐𝒓 π’‚π’”π’•π’‰π’Žπ’‚ π’‚π’•π’•π’‚π’„π’Œ 

Once you recognize that someone is experiencing an asthma attack  then
🎯get them to sit down and make them comfortable and relaxed
🎯encourage them to take deep slow breaths
🎯if they have their inhaler, assist them use it. They should be ok within minutes if it's a mild attack. If they don't get better, they repeat use of inhaler
🎯get them to the EMS if the symptoms are not improving
