Stingers/stings

SOURCES OF STINGS

A stinger, which is sometimes called a sting is an organ possessed by stinging animals (bumbleees, scorpions, wasps, yellow jackets,  hornets, honey bees, fire ants etc.).

Stingers are really sharp (as can be seen in the pictures). They pierce the skin of the victim and inject venom into the body or bloodstream of their victims.

The venom is stored in the venom glands of stinging animals. At the point of stinging, they pass the venom to the stinger and pierce the skin, injecting their venom.

Some stings are venomous while others aren't.
