Seizures really suck!
Today, i remembered a sad incident that occurred in Lagos, Nigeria, sometime in 2017.
A medical doctor committed suicide by jumping off the third mainland bridge. There was no suicide note. So people (colleagues mostly) tried to come up with possible reason(s) for his act. Amongst the guesses was this👉that he had a health challenge that caused him to experience seizures and this was a big downer for him😔
We are all fighting one battle or some other. Let's as much as possible show kindness and love.
Discriminating against someone because of a health challenge, status or whatever makes their world even worse. Be mindful of your mental health and those of others.
A seizure is sudden, it is uncontrolled electrical malfunction in the brain. It affects one's consciousness, perception, behaviour and movements.
Here is a list of triggers
-fevers
-infection in the brain
-stroke
-tumors in the brain
-trauma to the head or brain
-loss of oxygen to the brain
-alcohol withdrawal
-alcohol intoxication
-use of hard drugs
-bright/flashing light
-lack of sleep
-now we hear about Covid-19 causing seizures
People who have seizures tend to have emotional problems, they may suffer depression as well. They are prone to accidents and injuries (if they fall)
Always look out for someone who has seizures. Swimming, driving, operating certain machines can be hazardous.
They can however be managed to enjoy a normal life.
Know their triggers and help eliminate them as much as possible.
Ensure they take their meds
