Using Q tips in first aid care

The recommendation for the use of cotton buds in wound care is that it can be used to sterilize or disinfect around the wounds.

Infuse the cotton buds with antiseptic solution and clean around the wound. They are especially great for small cuts, bruises, scrapes..... 

For larger wounds,other options like gauze or cotton wool would be better. 

If there is floating foreign object in the eye, you could wet the cotton bud and use it to gently dislodge the foreign object in the absence of flowing water.
