International Epilepsy Day

Today is International Epilepsy day!

When most people here of epilepsy, the next thing that comes to mind is seizures. 

This year the theme is "Epilepsy is more than seizures"

Epilepsy is a neurological disorder (the neurons are malfunction). The neurons in the brain cause it to have an abnormal activity. This leads to 
👉seizures 

Seizures aren't the only manifestations of epilepsy. Epilepsy is more than seizures. Here are other manifestations 
👉loss of awareness/consciousness 
👉unusual behaviors 
👉unusual sensations and perceptions 

Epilepsy is indeed more than seizures, here are some other experiences an epileptic patient suffers
👉embarrassment 
👉prone to getting injured 
👉sometimes they are discriminated against 
👉side effects meds
👉reduced self confidence and self worth

If more people understood epilepsy then those that are around epileptics would treat them better and not discriminate against them.
