STINGERS
STINGERS WITH BARBS AND STINGERS WITHOUT BARBS
Stinging animals are able to sting with organs that they possess, these organs are referred to as stingers or stings.
The stingers are usually located at the rear of the stinging animal.
Some stingers have barbs while others do not have barbs.
Those with barbs most of the time sting once and leave their stingers behind, stuck at the site of the sting.
Those without barbs, can sting multiple times.
So let us not be under any illusion that when there is an attack from bees, hornets, wasps etc. that the attack is from their mouth parts, no, the stings are actually from the rear and not the front as is experienced with insect bites.
