Do you know how to stop a bleed
STOPPING A BLEED, AS EASY AS ABC
πππ
Yes it's that easy
So in the month of August, we have tried to demystify the whole bleeding issue.
-We have emphasized that effort must be made to arrest all bleeding
-That there are different types of bleeding
-We have brought to our attention different levels of blood loss and their implications
.....and some other really important sub-topics, all related to bleeding, first aid care for cuts wounds and bleeding
Let's do a quick reminder on what first aid helps us achieve during a medical emergency
- First aid preserves life
- First aid prevents a bad situation from getting worse
- First aid promotes quick recovery
However not all medical emergencies can be solely and adequately managed by first aid care. Sometimes a visit to the ER must be made after the initial first aid care
First aid doesn't always and should not eliminate the need of more professional medical care
However, whenever there is a medical emergency, first aid must be administered if there is no immediate access to a hospital or HCP (Health Care Provider)
A little summary on the first aid care that should be administered for cuts, wounds and bleeds
Step 1:Stop the bleed-by applying direct pressure
Step 2:Clean the cut/wound-with soap and water or soap wipes
Step 3:Protect the wound-by applying antibiotic cream or powder
Step 4:Dress the wound-with plasters, gauze, bandage
Step 5:Manage the pain-if the pain is unbearable then an OTC (Over The Counter) analgesic should be administered
Seeπ, easy as ABCπ. We bet next time there is a bleed, you have enough info to stop the bleedπ
