WHEN DOES A NOSEBLEED BLEED NEED MORE ADVANCED MEDICAL CARE

WHEN IS A NOSEBLEED AN EMERGENCY?

We had mentioned earlier that a nosebleed can be eadoly stopped. To stop a nosebleed, the soft part of the nose should be pinched for about 10 minutes.

Sometimes first aid intervention is not sufficient to manage a nosebleed

There are situations that would however demand a visit to the ER, as medical professional intervention is needed

Here are a list of scenarios

-When the nosebleed is as a result of an injury, such as a car accident

-Nosebleeds that results in the loss of a lot of blood

-Nosebleeds that interfere with breathing

-When a nosebleed last longer than 30 minutes even after pinching the nose

-When there are recurrent nosebleed episodes

-If you feel generally unwell

-Nosebleeds occurring in children younger than 2 years old

It's important that one accesses professional medical care when any of the above occurs
