Do you abuse cotton buds ???

COTTON BUDS AS FOREIGN OBJECTS IN THE EAR 

Cotton buds are like a staple in most homes.

It's interesting to know what people use cotton buds for, as they seem to have diverse uses. In fact there really is an abuse of cotton buds 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️🙆‍♀️.
Here are a few uses (both conventional and unconventional):

-to apply makeup 
-to remove makeup 
-to apply certain meds (gentian violet, paints etc)
-to take care of an itch in the ear
-to tickle the ear
-to remove wax from the ear

The truth is that cotton buds or Q tips push ear wax further or deeper into the ear. Having wax in the ear is a good thing. The function of the wax is to keep the ears healthy, it does this by trapping dust and dirt so they don't travel further into the ear. We really shouldn't engage in removing the wax from our ears in the name of cleaning our ears. Yes we know the temptation is overwhelming 😊. 

Ear wax is a good thing. The only problem is when there is an excessive production or when it solidifies and causes hearing difficulties. 

Some people also use cotton buds in their ears for the sensual pleasure they derive in gently probing their ears with them.

Use of cotton buds in the ear has been known to come with certain risks and they include 

-damaging their eardrums (as is seen in the picture)
-cotton wool detaching and getting trapped in the ear 

We really should try as much as possible to desist from "cleaning" our ears with cotton buds and stop using cotton buds to tickle our ears. The risks associated isn't worth it.

What's the function of cotton buds in your first aid kit/box?

If you own a standard first aid kit/box, you are most definitely going to find some cotton buds in them. No, their inclusion in your first aid kit/box isn't to help apply or take off your make up😝 No, they're not there to "clean", poke or tickle your ears 🤦‍♀️. Putting stuff in your ears is a no-no, it poses the risk of damaging your eardrums  So what are they for?
