Foreign Objects in the Ear-Intro

FOREIGN OBJECT IN THE EAR

Foreign objects can get into the ears accidentally or intentionally.

In kids, it is mostly intentionally, while experimenting, at play or out of curiosity. At other times it could be accidental.

In adults it is mostly accidental.

Insects can crawl into the ear, loose cotton wool around cotton buds can accidentally be lodged in the ear and a variety of other objects can be lodged in the ear.

Foreign objects in the ear may cause deafness  (temporarily or permanently).

Whatever the case, the aim is to safely dislodge the foreign object, this is usually achieved in a hospital.

We would be giving info on:

- Signs and symptoms of foreign objects in the ear

- First aid care and treatment for foreign objects in the ear

- When to see a doctor about a foreign object in the ear

- How to prevent foreign objects from entering the ear

This promises to be informative and interesting
