What Makes a Heartburn Happen???

WHAT CAUSES HEARTBURN

Don't let these pictures attached put you off. I promise this isn't a biology class😁. We are just setting up an easy foundation.

So we know Mr Oesophagus right? Here is a little refresher, it is the tube that connects the mouth to the tummy. Food travels from the mouth via the oesophagus to the tummy.

At the point where the oesophagus hooks up with the tummy. There is a muscle that opens up to let food move from the oesophagus into the tummy. It also shuts to stop  the contents of the tummy (food and gastric acids) from traveling back up the oesophagus.

If this muscle is slack, gastric acids can go up the oesophagus and cause the sensation we know as HEARTBURN (warm or burning sensation in the chest region)

Told you it wasn't too much biology 😝😁😅
