Fatty Liver Disease 101
Here is another silent disease. At the initial stage there are no obvious signs or symptoms.
One of the functions of the liver is to produce bile which is responsible for breaking down fats so that they can be easily digested/absorbed.
Fatty liver is when more than 10% of the liver is fat.
With fatty liver disease, the liver is unable to breakdown fats and this causes fat to build up in the tissues of the liver.
There are 2 types of fatty liver disease.
1) non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The causeis vague
2) alcoholic fatty liver disease (AFLD). This is caused by excessive consumption of alcohol
Fatty liver can degenerate to liver fibrosis and then liver cirrhosis, which is the final stage of liver damage and it's not reversible 😔
It's so important that we prevent damage to our organs as they are not easily replaced, being careless with our health is too much of a risk🤔
